ABSTRACT. In the present paper, I focus on the consequences of corrupt behavior, the context and causes of corruption, the effectiveness of anti-corruption initiatives, the political nature of corruption, and the role of political institutions in curbing or increasing corruption. This chapter aims to analyze and discuss the relationship between politics and administration within the bureaucracy, the sources of bureaucratic power, the level of politicization of the public bureaucracy, the weaknesses and inefficiencies of bureaucracy, and the values of formalized bureaucracy. pp. 31–39
