Abstract. Built on the foundation of some travelling notes from New Zealand, Australia and Dubai, from early 2010, the text is not really a travel diary, but a pretext for the analysis of the way some of the world’s countries managed to blossom economically and culturally under the strong influence of previous centuries of colonialism. The approach is unconventional, combining objective attitude, some personal subjective considerations and quotations of important authors, towards various phenomena and processes. pp. 113–124
