Abstract. In terms of Jürgen Habermas’s Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit the liberal concept of publicity refers to the critical function of the public sphere through which political power is legitimated. This understanding of publicity doesn’t fit to the context of modern society, democratic mass society, because of the structural transformations which classic liberal society have supported in time, consisting generally in the interpenetration of the two distinct spheres that was separated in the past, state and society. Thus, modern public sphere and publicity don’t correspond to classical ones, but, are rather similar to medieval feudal model, defined by Habermas as representative publicity. pp. 63–71
